THE RULES — METHODOLOGY

How this site keeps score

Every pick on this site goes on a public board with a date, a price, and a thesis — and stays there. Here is exactly how the scoring works.

Every stock take you have ever read came with a silent escape hatch: if the pick worked, you heard about it forever; if it flopped, it quietly disappeared. This site removes the hatch.

The three rules

  1. Every call is logged at publication. The date, the closing price that day, and the thesis in two sentences go on the Board the moment a pick is published.
  2. Every call is marked against the index. Performance is measured against the S&P/TSX Composite over the same window — beating the market is the only bar that matters. Beating zero is easy; beating the index is the game.
  3. Nothing is ever deleted. Closed calls stay on the Board permanently. Losses sit in red next to wins. Edits are logged. There are no quiet retirements.

Why percentages only

You will never see dollar amounts from my accounts on this site. Position sizes are personal; results in percentage terms against a benchmark are what make records comparable — mine, the bot's, and the index's.

The AI experiment

The Bot — a Claude-powered paper portfolio — plays by exactly the same rules. Its picks are logged, marked, and published on the same board, wins and losses alike. Twelve months, three contestants, one benchmark.

The scoreboard is the credibility. The restraint is the point.

If you catch an error in the record, tell me — corrections get logged too.
